How We Treat Addiction at Lifeline Behavioral Health
We use a holistic approach to treat addiction and make sure each person gets a treatment plan that fits their recovery journey. Our therapies are based on evidence, including peer support and structured treatment programs. With a focus on long-term healing, our treatment options address the underlying causes of addiction and promote lasting recovery.

Traditional Therapeutic Modalities
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) are widely used approaches in mental health treatment. CBT focuses on identifying negative thought patterns and replacing them with healthier behaviors, while DBT integrates mindfulness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance to help individuals manage intense emotions. Both therapies are structured, goal-oriented, and effective in treating conditions like anxiety, depression, and addiction.

Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy explores how past experiences and unconscious thoughts shape present behaviors and emotions. By increasing self-awareness and uncovering deep-seated patterns, individuals can work through unresolved conflicts and develop healthier ways of thinking and relating to others. This approach is particularly beneficial for those seeking long-term emotional growth and insight.

Creative Expressive Therapy
Creative expressive therapy encourages healing through artistic expression, using mediums like music, art, dance, and writing to process emotions and trauma. This method is very helpful for people who find it hard to express themselves with words. It offers a different way to discover themselves and release their emotions.

Substance Abuse Matrix Model
The Substance Abuse Matrix is a structured framework designed specifically for addiction recovery. It combines evidence-based therapies, group support, education, and relapse prevention strategies to address the psychological and behavioral aspects of substance use. By integrating counseling, 12-step programs, and coping skills training, this model provides a comprehensive approach to long-term sobriety.

Scottsdale Addiction Treatment Programs with Recovery Center for the Arts
We offer flexible and effective treatment options, including outpatient and structured programs that fit your life.
Safe & Medically-Supervised Drug Detox
Detox is the first step in overcoming substance dependence. When the body becomes accustomed to a drug, removing it can lead to withdrawal symptoms that range from mild discomfort to severe health risks. Detoxing in a supervised environment ensures safety and provides access to medical professionals who can help manage symptoms and ease the process.
At Recovery Center for the Arts, we collaborate with trusted detox facilities across Arizona, ensuring every individual receives high-quality medical support during this crucial phase. Once detox is complete, clients transition into our structured addiction treatment programs to continue their recovery journey in a supportive, therapeutic environment.
Inpatient Addiction Treatment: Full-Time Support for Recovery
For those who require a stable, immersive healing environment, inpatient treatment provides 24/7 support with access to medical professionals, therapists, and peer support groups. This distraction-free setting allows individuals to focus entirely on their physical, mental, and emotional recovery.
At Recovery Center for the Arts, we offer a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) that provides intensive, structured care five days a week. Designed for individuals aged 18-45, PHP includes comprehensive therapy sessions, group support, and individualized treatment plans. While not mandatory, supportive housing is available through Garfield Recovery House, offering a stable and recovery-focused living space.
Flexible Outpatient Treatment Options
For those transitioning from inpatient care or PHP, our outpatient programs provide ongoing support while allowing clients to resume daily responsibilities. At Recovery Center for the Arts, we prioritize personalized treatment plans that align with each client’s unique needs. Our team helps establish short-term and long-term housing options while ensuring clients have access to therapy, peer support, and community resources such as AA, SMART Recovery, and alumni support groups. We offer two levels of outpatient care:
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
A step-down program from inpatient care that includes multiple therapy sessions per week, focusing on relapse prevention, coping strategies, and emotional regulation. Clients typically return to home or sober living while maintaining a structured treatment schedule.
Standard Outpatient Treatment
A more flexible approach for individuals who require continued mental health and addiction support but need a lower level of care. Sessions can be weekly, bi-weekly, or as needed, offering long-term guidance to prevent relapse and reinforce positive lifestyle changes.
IOP 5-Day Intensive
Addiction & Dual Diagnosis – A higher level of care addressing addiction and co-occurring disorders. This structured program provides intensive therapy and peer support.
IOP Night Program
An evening outpatient program for those managing addiction and mental health challenges while balancing work, school, or other responsibilities.

Our North Scottsdale location is the only facility offering our specialized addiction treatment programs. This exclusive setting is also home to the Recovery Center for the Arts, where clients can participate in unique expressive therapies, including music, painting, and creative workshops, as part of their recovery journey. Dual Diagnosis Treatment in Scottsdale: Healing Addiction & Mental Health Together
Addiction rarely happens in isolation. Many people struggling with substance use are also managing anxiety, depression, PTSD, or other mental health challenges. This is known as dual diagnosis, and it requires an integrated approach to healing both the mind and body.

How Dual Diagnosis Treatment Works at Lifeline Behavioral Health with RCA - Comprehensive Assessment
Understanding the Full Picture of Addiction & Mental Health
Effective addiction treatment starts with a comprehensive assessment to understand each individual’s unique challenges. At Recovery Center for the Arts, we evaluate not just substance use disorders but also co-occurring disorders, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other mental health conditions. This thorough evaluation allows us to develop a treatment plan that aligns with personal needs, ensuring that every client receives the right level of care for their recovery journey.

Evidence-Based Therapy
Addressing Anxiety, Trauma, Depression, & Emotional Health
Addiction often stems from deeper emotional struggles, which is why our approach integrates evidence-based therapy to treat both substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides structured, full-day therapy five days a week for those needing intensive care, with optional supportive housing at Garfield House. For those who require flexibility, our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers several therapy sessions per week, allowing clients to maintain work and family responsibilities while receiving structured support.

Personalized Recovery Plans
Creating Strategies for Long-Term Stability & Relapse Prevention
Sustained recovery requires an individualized approach, which is why we create personalized recovery plans that evolve with each client’s needs. After completing PHP, clients transition into IOP, followed by ongoing outpatient therapy for long-term support. Our team of specialized mental health therapists works closely with dual diagnosis clients, providing treatment for mood disorders, trauma, and anxiety alongside addiction recovery. With care coordinators assisting in securing short- and long-term supportive housing, we ensure that every individual has the structure and stability needed to achieve lasting recovery.
