How Do Mental Health Literacy Programs Work?

During your assessment, you work with a therapist to identify the focus and length that best fits your needs. The goal is to create a clear, manageable path forward that helps you better understand what you’re experiencing without adding pressure or rigid expectations.

Programs may include individual sessions, group sessions, or a combination of both, and are available in person, through telehealth, or in a hybrid format. Some individuals complete a single program, while others continue therapy or participate in additional programs over time. Throughout the process, we meet you where you are and adjust care as your needs and goals evolve.

Focus Areas That Shape Daily Life

Your certificate program focuses on practical areas that influence how you think, feel, relate to others, and manage everyday challenges. These focus areas are selected based on your needs and goals and are designed to support understanding, healing, and long-term growth. Not every area applies to every person. A therapist helps identify which areas will be most meaningful for you.

Focus Areas May Include

  • Mindfulness and present-moment awareness
  • Emotion regulation
  • Distress tolerance
  • Acceptance and radical acceptance
  • Communication skills
  • Interpersonal effectiveness
  • Handling difficult feelings
  • Daily life skills
  • Peer relationships
  • Social values and boundaries
  • Responsible thinking
  • Responsible behavior
  • Family dynamics
  • Healthy relationships
  • Recreation and leisure balance
